Continuing our work in support of the "Stop Violence Against Women" Campaign, a photo exhibition has beenshown at various local libraries.

Hinsehen und Handeln: Gewalt gegen Frauen verhindern

The exhibition is a pictorial documentation of some of the campaign's focus points:

  • Worldwide scandal
From birth to death, in times of peace as well as war, women face discrimination and violence at the hands of the state, the community and the family.
  • Defending defenders
Many human rights defenders face risks, but women encounter additional risks because of their gender and the issues they address.
  • Women and war
At times of war women are particularly vulnerable to discrimination and violence.
  • Flight and violence
Women refugees and asylum-seekers often find themselves caught in an inescapable cycle of violence.
  • Violence at home
For countless women, home is not a refuge but a place of terror.
  • Justice not excuses
Most acts of violence against women are never investigated. The perpetrators are not prosecuted. They commit their crimes with impunity.

The exhibition was previously shown at the Hansabibliothek in Tiergarten from July to mid-August 2004, at the Stadtteilbibliothek Marienfelde from mid-January to mid-February 2005, and at the Mittelpunktbibliothek Adalbertstraße in March 2005, and at the Stadtteilbibliothek Halemweg from mid-April to mid-May, 2005.

If you know of a suitable place where the exhibition could be presented, please do not hesitate to contact us. The "Stop Violence Against Women" Campaign will continue until March 2006.

Our other activities relating to this campaign will be announced here soon. Please visit our site again!!! more about the more about the campaign (in German)...
