Stand Against Forced Evictions in Cambodia on Saturday 16 July 2011 in front of U Bahnhof Südstern
The weather was almost perfect and the group members were willing, the only thing missing was the public.
The schools are on holiday and the public swimming baths are full, so maybe that is why the square in front of U Bahnhof Südstern was almost like a ghost town on a Saturday afternoon. For more than three hours we plied our trade and, surprisingly, collected more than 170 signatures for our current Cambodian forced evictions petition, but it was hard work chasing the few passersby and none of us were disappointed when we packed up a little bit early.
This was the second time we’d had a stand at this location and it definitely has potential, we just need to find out the best time of year to reap its benefits. A big thank you to Cristina, Elke, Gunda, Kuni, Ria, Ursula, Georg, Nelson and Gib for their time and effort.
