Locktow 2014 was a day of superlatives. It was the warmest, sunniest day we've ever had there. The demand for our yellow balloons was unprecedented (we literally ran out of balloon sticks). And, most importantly, we broke our Locktow signatures record, collecting almost 200.
The downside of the calm blue skies was that from 11am onwards, kite-flying was nigh-on impossible. Despite our best efforts, we were unable to get our mega-kite and Amnesty banner off the ground. Luckily, we had brought our amazing Amnesty wheel of fortune along. Again, it was a great crowd-puller and a fun way to get talking to people -- children especially -- about human rights.
Continuing our work on the Stop Torture campaign, we collected 99 signatures in support of Moses Akatugba in Nigeria. Additionally, the good people of Locktow provided us with a further 94 signatures in support of missing Gambian journalist Ebrima B. Manneh.
As usual, a big thank you to all who turned up and helped (especially our drivers!), and to the organisers of the festival for once again welcoming us to their event.
