Benefit Concert for Traumatized Refugees

On November 12th 2016, our group organized its first benefit concert--an ambitious undertaking!

The classical concert was held at the St. Matthäus Kirche im Kulturforum in Berlin. The program included pieces by Edward Elgar, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and Bob Chilcott. The director was Yukari Ishimoto and the piano soloist was Anna Kurasawa.

Attendance was impressive, with almost all 150 seats filled. The objective of the evening was to raise money for the BZFO – Behandlungszentren für Folteropfer (which recently changed its name to "Zentrum Ueberleben"). The group had pledged to raise a total of €5000 for the treatment and support of traumatized refugees in the course of 2016. The concert was the final event in our year-long donation marathon. We are proud and delighted to announce that the concert raised €2148 through ticket sales and donations. It was the final push we needed to reach our €5000 goal.

We thank Albrecht for all his hard work in making the concert happen, and to the talented musicians who donated their time and energy to making it such a resounding success: Die Berliner Stadtstreicher, members of the Orchesters der Berliner Musikfreunde and the Japanese-German Jazz-the-Mass Ensemble. Very special thanks to director Yukari Ishimoto and soloist Anna Kurasawa.
